PIRATE PRODUCE

When a rare illness takes away pastry chef Shane Harper’s taste, balance and vision, it forces him to reconsider everything he knows about food. He leaves the world of fine dining behind and teaches himself to farm, eventually becoming the farmer behind the kitchen at Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Ontario’s Niagara Benchlands.
Pirate Produce follows Harper’s transformation from pastry chef to what he calls a “Chef de Farm,” exploring food, farming, perfectionism and the changing relationship between the field and the kitchen.
