Expanded Cinema

  • Microcinema | NAC 354 Saint Paul Street St. Catharines (map)

Anthony Kinik presents a shorts program of Expanded Cinema projects from Expo 67 alongside a special colour-restored screening of Voyage dans la Lune, Georges Méliès’ groundbreaking 1902 masterpiece.

expo67 was a World's Fair in Montreal, Canada, held from April 28 to October 29, 1967.

It was the centerpiece of Canada's centennial celebrations and featured the theme "Man and His World".

The event attracted nearly 50 million visitors, making it the most successful World's Fair of the 20th century at the time, and featured avant-garde pavilions from 62 nations.

More films were shown at Expo 67 in Montreal than at any previous World’s Fair. Press materials claimed that five thousand films were shown in the various pavilions, but only a handful of these were produced especially for Expo. (Peter Morris)
